In 1997 I decided to migrate to Australia and thus leave my job with Pink Elephant and indeed my life in the Netherlands behind. One of the reasons why I was eligible for a permanent residency visa was because of my work-experience and education.
In
the first years I went through various jobs:
GE
Capital IT (formerly Ferntree, now CSC) as contract System Engineer for 3
months |
|
PDP
Network as Account and Operations Manager (just over a year) |
|
Corporate
Computer
Consultants (CCC) as Project Manager/Technical Consultant for 3 months |
|
|
Some
more casual work for a couple of months |
Strategic
Computer Solutions (SCS) as Service Delivery Manager for 1½ years |
|

Conan
Group as Service Management Consultant for almost 2 years |
When
my relation with Conan Group
deteriorated, I started looking around for another position (or to be
honest, I had done so for a while, but now with more urgency).
Unfortunately, with a specialised field like IT Service Management and
in a small town like Perth, there wasn’t much choice. I thought that
I would either have to take my chances as an independent consultant or
perhaps accept a ‘travelling’ job over-East.
But as luck would have it, did Lucid IT announce in March 2003 their ITIL training schedule in Perth (together with Spherion Education). I contacted them and managed to convince them that Perth offered more potential than just public training. So in April 2003 I started as their Principal Consultant in Perth |
Lucid IT is the most experienced provider of professional management and consulting services in IT Service Management in Australia. The company was founded in 2001 after a Management Buy Out of ‘PinkRoccade Australia Consulting Services’. When global direction of PinkRoccade changed, the Lucid IT team formed a new company and bought out all of PinkRoccade’s consulting business, including all Intellectual Property regarding projects undertaken by the Australian operation of PinkRoccade. Due to my previous employment with Pink Elephant (and relations with their Australian operations), I already know 3 of the 4 directors.
Lucid IT has a bit of an old ‘Pink’-feel about it, being a young (relatively that is, we’re all getting older), flexible organisation. Being responsible for the Perth branch (and South Australia and the Northern Territory as well for good measure) and in particular the marketing/sales side of things is a new challenge for me. Meanwhile I have been helping out in the other offices, travelling East (either Sydney or Canberra) 5 times in May and June.
